Well, Ice Cream Lovers, another season is rapidly coming to a close, so you had better hurry on in and get your favorite treats this week. The Dairy Barn will be closed on Labor Day Monday and that marks the end of our 45th season! Be sure to stop by no later than Sunday, August 31, and enjoy some ice cream and then take home a quart or two. Please, please, please pay attention to the signage while in the drive-thru. So many drivers are disregarding them by driving WAY TOO FAST, by not stopping and looking for alley traffic or children walking down the alley to the playground, and by blocking the alley when the sign clearly states to not do this. Some cars are literally flying into the drive-thru like it was the Indy 500, taking the far east curve so fast it is tearing up our new drive, and then not staying on the drive but instead getting into the lawn edges where I am trying desperately to get grass to grow. I hate to be so blunt, but there really is no excuse for this type of driving. Also, my observation is that drivers could stay on the roadway if they would just take their eyes off of their phones long enough to see where they are going. All this commenting is simply an attempt to try to make our drive-thru more effective for our customers and convenient for our neighbors who use the alley, and safer for the children who enjoy the playground.

The Dairy Barn has expanded its drive thru this season to make it much easier for vehicles to make the trek from Adams Street to the serving window. Please note that the drive thru starts by entering off of Adams Street and heading east and then curving north, then west, to finally reach the serving window. This new set-up will keep cars from blocking traffic needing to use the alley. Please take note of the new signage indicating the "drive thru entrance", as well as to "drive slowly", and to "not block the alley." If our patrons follow these simple rules, traffic will flow smoothly and our neighbors to the north will be able to use the alley. We have done our best to gravel the new drive, so please try not to get off the edges into the dirt or mud.
