This dream at times feels like it is on pause, but 2 verses keep coming to mind, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No He is being patient for your sake.” (2Peter 3:9) and “the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
God knows what pace we can truly handle, what might change in our schedules in the near future, what might distract us, cause us to stumble and what our blind spots are. At the same time, He knows how to keep sanctifying us, and molding us to reflect Him. (Philippians 1:6)
So let me tell you what I tell myself in a waiting season, in the midst of pauses- trust Him! Trust your Heavenly Father! His ways are better! His timing is perfect! He knows best! Also, here are some questions to reflect on- “how can I honor Him while waiting? What is the purpose He has for this season? How can I use this time to prep for when He says ‘go’?”
So for me, here is how my active waiting season is going:
Sharing the Gospel- the goal of this cafe is to spread the good news about Jesus. I’ve been getting to go out and share the gospel, which has been so fulfilling! Seen a handful of salvations too!!!
Matcha practice - I got to make matchas at a Bible study gathering, it was the first time I took more than a dozen orders at once and that was so fun! I’ve learned I need a helping hand to get the drinks out in a timely manner :)
Heart posture- I’m reminded constantly that He is the true owner and I am just the human manager. I am also reminded of Abraham and Isaac, even though Abraham and his wife had waited decades for their son, at God’s command, Abraham was ready to surrender his son to God. I feel God doing this in me, He is making sure that I don’t hold on too tight to this gift He has placed in my hands and that’s for my own good. (In regard to Abraham and Isaac, God didn’t take Isaac away, it was a test to see if Abraham would surrender).
Let’s remember- no season is wasted, fruit grows in the dark and even in the winter, God knows what He is doing and it’s for your own good (Romans 8:28)! Trust Him! Have faith!
