When I first started vending, I thought every successful vendor had a fully custom setup.

Then I started paying attention. 👀

A lot of vendors were using simple tents, homemade signs, printed banners, and DIY branding while they built their businesses.

You don’t have to buy everything at once.

Our setup looked very different before our custom canopy, but those smaller upgrades helped us create a booth we were proud of while staying within budget.

Start where you are.
Make the sales.
Upgrade when you’re ready. 💛

If you’re looking for a quality tent without spending custom-canopy money comment DALLAS and I’ll send over my discount code. 👇🏽

Everyone sees the cute booth, the branded tent, and the finished setup... 😂

What they don’t see is the 24 hours before the event when I’m running around making lists, packing inventory, charging everything, filling coolers, double-checking supplies, and somehow still convinced I’m forgetting something 😭

Owning a business is fun... but nobody warned me about the pre-event chaos 😂

Any other small business owners or vendors feel personally attacked by this? 👀😂

The joke is that he works for free 😭

The reality is Thirst Trap Lemonade wouldn’t be what it is without him.

Most people see me behind the booth, but they don’t see the hundreds of cups he’s labeled, the tables he’s carried, the coolers he’s loaded, the late nights getting ready for events, or the countless times he’s stepped in when I was overwhelmed.

Starting this business was my idea, but building it has absolutely been a team effort.

So yes... technically this is what zero dollars an hour looks like 😭🍋

But I’m grateful every day that I have someone willing to help me chase crazy ideas.

Okay so this is something I think beginner vendors don’t realize at first 😭

A busy event and a PROFITABLE event are not always the same thing.

Thankfully we’ve been really fortunate to have a lot of successful events, but a huge reason for that is because we spend a LOT of time researching events before we commit to them 👀

Just because an event has thousands of people doesn’t automatically mean those people are YOUR customers.

You really have to think about:
Who the event is actually attracting
The age range of the crowd
Family-focused vs adults only
Whether people there are actually spending money
And if your product even makes sense for that environment

A couple questions that can honestly tell you a LOT before booking:
1. “What type of crowd usually attends?”
2. “What vendors/products usually do well here?”

Because the right audience will almost ALWAYS outperform a random giant crowd 😭

If you’re planning to start vending soon, PLEASE don’t wait until the night before an event to think about your sanitation station 😭💀

Getting organized ahead of time honestly makes event mornings SO much less stressful.

One thing that helped us a lot was keeping all of our inspection/sanitation supplies together in one labeled bin so we’re not digging through random boxes during setup.

A few things inspectors will usually want to see:
Hand washing station
Catch bucket
Wash/rinse/sanitize buckets
Gloves
Paper towels
Trash bags
Sanitizer testing strips
Fire extinguisher (not usually needed for lemonade but some events require food vendors have one)
Thermometer (not shown in video)

Also… double check your testing strips before events because sanitizer tablets and bleach use different ones 👀

Little things like that can save you a LOT of unnecessary stress during inspections 😭

DISCLAIMER: Every state, county, and event can have different health department rules and requirements, so always double check with your local health department and event coordinators before vending 👀

Save this for your next vendor event so you’re not panic-searching the night before setup 💀

One thing I wish beginner vendors understood sooner?

Customers usually care WAY more about:
Your product. Your energy. Your customer service

…than whether your setup looks Pinterest-perfect 😭

I think social media accidentally makes a lot of people feel like they have to spend thousands before they can even START.

Meanwhile some of the best vendors I’ve met started with:
Basic tents
Folding tables
Homemade signs
Simple setups

and built things up over time 👏

Your setup will evolve.
Your confidence will evolve.
Your business will evolve.

But none of that can happen if fear keeps you from starting in the first place 😭

And honestly? People connect way more with passion and authenticity than perfection anyway.

I genuinely love our tent because it’s super easy for me to set up on my own and it made starting events feel way less intimidating 😭👏

So if you’re looking for your first vendor tent and want to save a little more coin, comment “DALLAS” and I’ll send you my discount code 👀

A professional flyer and a bunch of Instagram posts can really have you thinking an event is about to be LIFE changing 💀

And then you show up and immediately realize the actual turnout is nowhere near what was advertised 😭

One thing I started doing before agreeing to events?

Researching the event itself 👀

Go look at videos/photos from previous years:
Did the event actually look busy?
Were people shopping or just walking around?
Did vendors seem active?
Were there long lines anywhere?
Did people look engaged?

Because some events look AMAZING online…
but the real life turnout tells a completely different story 😭

And honestly? After doing more events, I’ve realized good marketing does NOT always equal good attendance.

A good flyer can get vendors interested… but turnout is what actually matters 😭

Y’all this flavor combo has honestly developed a little fan club at our events 😂🍋

And somehow together it tastes like pure chaos and childhood nostalgia at the same time 😭💀

This one is ALWAYS a favorite with the kids and honestly… adults end up loving it too 😂

One of my favorite parts about doing lemonade events is watching people try flavors for the first time because everybody immediately reacts differently 😭

Some people instantly know their favorite flavor…
and some people end up walking away with like 4 pouches 💀😂

One thing vending has taught me REAL fast?

Just because an event has open vendor spots does NOT mean it’s automatically a good event 💀

This event actually worked out for us in the end…
but fighting for our lives against the wind during setup definitely had me rethinking things for a minute 😭😂

And honestly? Sometimes the vendor fee is the LEAST stressful part.

You also have to think about:
Weather
Setup conditions
Attendance
Organization
How many vendors are there
If the audience even fits your product
How much inventory/prep you’re risking

I think beginner vendors feel pressure to say yes to every opportunity because nobody wants to miss out…

But some events will cost you:
Money
Energy
Inventory
Time
Sanity 😭

Some lessons in vending are honestly learned the expensive way 😭
