Sometimes, it’s okay to love from over there.

Sometimes, we get wrapped up in our perception of a person, a brand, an organization or simply what has been presented to us from the outside.

Then, sometimes, we get closer.
..And sometimes, we end up working or living in the trenches with them. We see how things actually go. We learn the operation, the facts, the values, experience the culture, and witness how decisions are made.
..And sometimes, we realize that something or someone simply doesn’t align with our values or sit well with us ethically.

That doesn’t mean everything we once admired suddenly becomes untrue.

It just means proximity gave us information that distance could not.

You can appreciate what something or someone represents while recognizing that being closely connected to it or them may not be for you.

Sometimes, again, loving from a distance is okay.

1. Ordering Window: September 8th–November 21st

2. Pickups: November 22nd–November 25th

3. CUSTOM CHEESECAKES: All custom cheesecakes for Thanksgiving must be ordered by November 1st.

4. After November 1st, only cheesecakes from our regular menu will be available.

5. IMPORTANT: Half & Half Cheesecakes will NOT be available for Thanksgiving this year.

Thank you for making space for us at your loving tables all these years.

It is a privilege we never take for granted.

After all these years, it’s an absolute honor for VAL'S to be part of the State Fair of Texas through a collaboration with Milton’s Concessions.

Our cheesecake topping will be featured on their deliciously decadent Sweet Cheezus Funnel Cakes. Working with Milton’s Conceasions is a dream for me. I have so much respect for this family and the place they’ve earned at the fair.

Please stop by Milton’s Concessions at the front gate or tower building, try our collaboration, and support two local brands that are part of this community's tapestry.

It’s 9/25 and on this , I have been thinking about what it would mean to treat our passion like a 9 to 5.

Clock in. Give it your heart. Then clock out and let yourself rest.

That old saying that you’ll never get tired if you’re doing what you love needs rethinking.

You can love what you do deeply and still give yourself the rest/break that helps you keep loving it.

There’s confidence in knowing when to step away, and clarity in knowing you can come back.

Clocking out of your passion doesn’t mean you care less. It means you know there’s more to care about.

BURNOUT: Stop asking yourself to love your business the way you used to!

Burnout DOES NOT ALWAYS mean you need to close your business. It may ALSO mean the version of your business you’ve been carrying has run its course.

Ask yourself the following questions about every part of the business:

Does this make enough money, bring me enough joy, or strengthen the brand enough to justify the energy it takes?

If the answer is no, cut it, reduce it, delegate it, or charge more for it.

The goal is no longer about proving you can work harder.

It's about building a business that doesn’t require all of you to survive.

Your brand can change, but you also have to come to terms with the ramifications of those changes.
..And somewhere between accepting what was and figuring out what’s next, BURNOUT gets upset, packs its bags and heads for the door.

(This what I went through and I am a strong advocate for reaching out to loved ones, friends, and most importantly health professionals when BURNOUT walks in through your door because it touches everything: the mental, the physical and the emotional)
