🩷 COTTON GINNING DAYS + A LITTLE UPDATE 🩷
We’ll be at Cotton Ginning Days THIS Saturday & Sunday, and I cannot wait to see y’all! Come by, say hey, grab something delicious, and spend the weekend supporting all of the amazing local vendors. We’ll have plenty of your Front Porch favorites with us! 🥖🍩🍪
But after Cotton Ginning Days, there are going to be a few changes around here.
And honestly, this is one of those posts that is a little hard for me to write.
When I started Front Porch Flour Co., this was never supposed to be a full-time job. I started baking to supplement our income so that Chris could work less overtime and spend more time at home with us.
And y’all… this little bakery has surpassed that goal by FAR.
I am so incredibly thankful to God for that.
And I am so thankful for every single person who has supported this little business. Every order. Every repeat customer. Every referral. Every message telling me that someone tried my bread because their friend told them they had to. Every person who has stood in line at a market, shared a post, brought a friend, or simply told me how much they love something I made.
I will never be able to adequately thank you for the faith you have put in me or the support you have given this business. ❤️
But somewhere along the way, the bakery went from being something that supplemented our life to something that was taking over our life.
And as much as I LOVE baking for y’all, I have to be honest with myself.
At the end of the day, I am still a stay-at-home mom and a wife. I homeschool 3 of our 4 kids. I have a husband who I want to spend time with. I have a family who needs me. And most importantly, I have a relationship with God that I don’t want to keep putting on the back burner because there aren’t enough hours in the day.
I have realized that if I continue baking at the capacity I have been, I am eventually going to burn myself out and end up hating something that I truly love.
And I do NOT want to close this bakery.
So instead, I am choosing to make it sustainable.
Starting next week, I will only be accepting a limited number of pre-orders.
🩷 Next week’s pre-orders will open tomorrow and close on Sunday at 11:59pm.
🩷 I will accept TEN orders only.
🩷 If you’ve already placed an order for next week, you are absolutely fine, your order will be ready on your previously chosen pickup day!
🩷 Pickup for orders placed after tomorrow will be Thursday after 1 PM and before 8 PM.
🩷 I will be opening preorders every week on Thursdays and closing preorders weekly on Sunday.
Pickups will be every Thursday or Friday.
Once those ten spots are filled, that’s it for the week.
We are also still working on getting the Front Porch Farms farm stand up and running. 😂 I know. I’ve been saying that forever. But between weather, exhaustion, life, and honestly sometimes just choosing to put the tools down and spend time together as a family, it has been a slower process than we expected. Once the farm stand is finally up, my plan is to have it open one day a week.
I will have this preorder system still in place for those that want to sure to secure their goodies, and anything left in the stand will be first come, first served. When it’s gone, it’s gone until the following week.
Depending on how that goes, I may eventually add a second day each week. But for now, we’re going to start small and see how it works for our family.
This isn’t me giving up. I hope none of you think that.
This is me putting things back into their proper place.
I am so incredibly proud of what Front Porch Flour Co. has become. I am grateful beyond words that something I started in my kitchen to help my family has grown into something that so many of you have welcomed into your homes.
But I never want this business to cost me the very things that matter most to me.
So after a LOT of prayer, a lot of thought, and a lot of conversations with my family, I truly believe this is the best path forward.
Thank you for understanding. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for loving my bread, my sweets, my crazy ideas, my sass, my family, and this little business.
And thank you for allowing me to do this on a scale that still allows me to be the mom and wife God has called me to be.
I love y’all more than you know. ❤️
Now… come see us at Cotton Ginning Days this weekend. 😉
