The Greater Lafourche Port Commission continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Bertha and remains at Storm Phase 1 (Storm Watch).

While a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for portions of the Louisiana coast, current forecasts from the National Weather Service do not indicate that Port Fourchon is expected to experience extreme impacts from this storm. At this time, we anticipate the Port will primarily experience periods of gusty winds, scattered heavy rainfall, elevated tides, and hazardous marine conditions, with the greatest impacts expected Wednesday through Thursday morning. The most significant impacts continue to be forecast over the Gulf and along the immediate coastline.

Access to and from Port Fourchon is not expected to experience any major disruptions at this time, and normal operations continue. However, weather conditions can change rapidly, and all tenants and Port users should continue to monitor official forecasts and be prepared to adjust plans if necessary.

Reminder: The Port Fourchon Storm Harbor is openfor vessels seeking safe harbor. Vessel owners and operators planning to utilize the Storm Harbor are encouraged to arrive as early as practical and follow all directions from Harbor Police and Port personnel.

All tenants, operators, vessel owners, and facility managers should continue implementing their severe weather and hurricane preparedness plan.

Employees, contractors, tenants, and visitors traveling to and from Port Fourchon are encouraged to exercise caution while driving during deteriorating weather conditions. Please reduce your speed during heavy rainfall, increase your following distance, use headlights when visibility is reduced, and never attempt to drive through water-covered roadways. Allow extra travel time and make safety your top priority.

The Greater Lafourche Port Commission will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Bertha and provide additional updates as conditions warrant.

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is monitoring the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Bertha as it approaches the Greater New Orleans area. Passengers with travel scheduled are advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight information before arriving at the Airport.
