CALL TO RETURN
It's time to return those bag share bags!
Last week our lovely folks over at The BagShare came by with a WHOLE LOAD! It was FULL. And just a week later only a few remain.
It's time we all brought them back in!
The Bagshare Project is a zero-waste initiative now based at the Old Stone Mill Center in Adams. You can read all about the Old Stone Mill on our website.

The Center turns scrap materials, upcycled fabric, and repurposed feed or malt bags into free, reusable shopping bags. They look incredible and fashionable, but it's not all about the aesthetics, people. These are much more durable and can carry more at the same time. Basically offering folks the cheat codes for bringing in all the groceries in one go.
The organization was founded in 2007 by beloved local artist and printmaker Leni Fried. The project was created to provide a sustainable alternative to disposable paper and plastic shopping bags by organizing community sewing circles. These sewing circles, or "Sewcial" events help to manufacture reusable totes out of discarded scrap materials. And frankly, it's a great way to spend an afternoon.
But let's toot our own horn a little bit, we were the first adaptors, and Cummington was the best spot to get bags made for a long time. When this project started they were able to calculate the Creamery had supplied 49,000 paper bags each year. By becoming bag free we saved $5,000 annually in bag costs and 70 fifteen-year-old trees.
So! Please, return the ones you don't use. Keep the ones you do! And maybe keep an eye out for the next Sewcial event.
