The city of Cumberland is embracing a brighter future through its ongoing beautification efforts. Recently, the downtown dog park at the corner of Pershing and South Liberty Street received a vibrant makeover, thanks to the selfless efforts of volunteers during the Day of Caring and Sharing, who added fresh plants and mulch generously donated by Skidmore & Alderson PA. This haven features a native Maryland plant section, carefully curated to attract butterflies and support pollination, alongside bushes and two beautiful rose plants transplanted from the former pedestrian mall. A majestic Peace tree, planted in 1981 by the Cumberland Lions Club, continues to stand tall, providing shade for all visitors, whether they walk on two legs or four. Let's Beautify Cumberland volunteers Carol and Chris, under the watchful eye of Fiona, the remarkable guide dog and guardian of the sidewalk, tirelessly maintain Fiona Park, spreading joy and beauty throughout the community.
