Hello again Cumberland community and local friends!
We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has reached out and to give a quick update:
Over the past month we have participated in a lot of brainstorming meetings and have done our best to listen to your feedback and recommendations. We have a better idea of how to best serve the community and try to hit more of the demand in hopes of stabilizing our business, but we can’t do it alone this time. One creative solution that has bounced around is to split the space with another business interested in providing breakfast and lunch. This would be a lease situation for them with shared utilities. Then we would take over in the afternoon/evening and run Rise as the family-friendly restaurant we love.
We’re asking anyone who reads this post to please share it in hopes it finds “the right person” looking to open a bakery/breakfast/lunch operation of any sort in our space. We truly believe if we team up with someone we will offer the community more of the options you’re looking for and be able to spread costs out to optimize capital for both businesses. There is even the potential to share some staff to give scheduling flexibility if needed.
Are you, or someone you know, in the industry and paying too much for your current lease? Would a co-op situation be intriguing to you? Are you, your employees and your customers tired of paying for parking in Portland? Would you like the chance to serve a wonderful community without the headache of being in a city? Well now’s your chance!
Obviously we are also willing to lease the space fully as a turn key restaurant. Or sell the property, and you could own a stand alone restaurant with ample parking in an amazing community. We just hate to see the place empty with such a need for this town.
