Seth Ortiz recommended we have a Happy Hour! It's a great idea. We tried it when we opened but it didn't really drive any new customers, but I think it's worth a try again! We are going to institute 50% off Chips and Salsa and QUESO!!!, and 25% off draft beers, wines, ciders and meads, and 6 for 5 Buckets of Beer on FRIDAYS, from 3 PM to Close. So, a meaty Happy Hour, on a FRIDAY, to CLOSE! Can't beat that!
And in honor of the new Tesla Chargers (hopefully turned on darn soon), I decided to buy an EV vehicle. I got the truck, which people either love or HATE. The EVThing is featured on the truck from the front sticker to the rear emboss. I have to admit that I LOVE driving this vehicle. Or better said, I LOVE having this vehicle driving ME. The self driving option is magic. I have let it drive me on freeways in Austin, dirt roads and complex routes in the country, and state highways through towns, including where they are doing interchange construction (between Shiner and Yoakum) and around ambulances and firetrucks, where it slowed and pulled over. In fact, if you see this vehicle around town, it is 90% certain that it's driving itself. For me, that feature is a game changer. Not just a new vehicle, but a chauffeur to boot! I feel like the monkey at the beginning of 2001: A Space Odyssey holding up the bone to the skies. It's that big a deal. I wrote about my experience in social media and someone wrote that they had bought their elderly mom a Tesla for just that reason... to go back and forth to the grocery store and to her canasta games without her or anyone else worrying. That movement you feel is society shifting. Oh yeah, it ALSO goes 0 to 60 faster than a Ferrari!
I hope this tech finds its way to hybrid and combustion engine cars, but it's far more complex an endeavor. EV's are simple. The controls are simple. Best platform to perfect this newly emerging tech. Wouldn't it be cool if your car or truck could do this, regardless of fuel source?
If I'm at the EVThing, ask me for a ride and I'll be happy to show you! Victoria Connection Magazine
