Here’s my story:
I have loved baking since I was 5. Cooking was the way we showed love in our house. Every holiday. Every occasion. Bake it with your heart. After being inspired by a small shop in Ormond Beach, FL, my husband, our two year old son Jack and I left to start anew here in Crossville, TN. Quite the opposite of the 20yrs of bike week events, variety of cultural eats, and of course, the wonderful beach. Our first day here was October 31st, 2019 and it snowed that very day. Our son got to see snow for the first time. What a moment you don’t forget!
After a few months, I was craving that little shop that inspired The Donut Cafe. After about a year of planning and serious budgeting and discipline, our family started to make the inspiration come to life.
Through many friends, family members that traveled from many different places, to making new friends, and of course, Jacks amazing greeting skills 🤪, the very long hours (wake up time is 1:30am), we have enjoyed every precious, lit up moment that came into our shop! The faces that bring joy to yall is what makes it worth keeping the spark lit! It makes my day worth it! Of course, with some successes come some waves of things just not according to plan. So we took a break.
Mike and I think about you all, the think of the flavors, the laughter, the freshness every single day. Since the beginning of the year I have been working hard on this new food BUS (Dylon, The Pizza Machine was a big inspiration) venture but I gotta figure out the kinks which I am working on all the time. As a friendly local owner would say K.I.S.S (Keep It Stupid Simple) 😉
That being said, for now we will just do Donuts and standard cup o’ Joe ☕️. But soon we will bring back burritos and we got something else up our sleeves!! Lets dough this 🤪🤣
