Do you know the history behind our billy barr? Long before weather apps and online snow reports, billy barr was recording Crested Butte’s winters by hand from his remote cabin in Gothic. Arriving in the 1970s, billy became known for meticulously tracking snowfall, temperatures, and wildlife observations year after year. His decades of data transformed a personal passion into an invaluable scientific record, helping researchers better understand climate and ecological change in the Rocky Mountains.

Today, his legacy lives on through the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL), where science, curiosity, and a deep connection to the natural world continue to inspire discovery.

Come learn more about billy’s legacy, and enjoy some drinks, bites, and music with us in the billy barr.

Happy Memorial Day weekend from Crested Butte! We have an exciting hours update for you all!

Jose will be open today from 4 - 9 pm, tomorrow from 12 - 9 pm, and Sunday from 4 - 9 pm!

The billy barr will be open all weekend long (including Monday) from 6 - 11 am for breakfast!!

We can’t wait to see you before or after your weekend adventures!
