Skylar Tang is a rising trumpeter, composer, and bandleader originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. A featured artist on Joshua Redman’s album Words Fall Short, she has toured internationally and earned national recognition as the winner of the 2022 Essentially Ellington Student Composition & Arranging Contest. Now based in New York, Skylar studies History at Columbia University and Jazz Performance at The Juilliard School. Her original music blends thoughtful composition with expressive trumpet playing, creating memorable and engaging live performances.
