Seven years. I started this little venture seven years ago, not having a clue where it would lead. And had no clue of the wonderful people who would walk through the doors of the shop. You have challenged me, you have brought me joy, and you helped me believe in myself again. Life has changed a lot in those seven years, and I find myself needed in other places. We welcomed a granddaughter two years ago , lost my father-in-law this summer, and along with other family needs, it’s time to leave the kitchen and be Mom and Lala full-time. I would be remiss to not mention the loss of my dear friend Jerri Patterson who died just before Christmas. Jerri was my biggest cheerleader and provided me with my best asset, an amazing workspace. She is forever in my heart.
I am so grateful to each of you who trusted me with your cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. You also hold a little place in my heart.

Adam Kincaid loved chocolate chip cookies. For his 16th birthday last June I made the most chocolate chip cookie-est cake I could think of: chunks of chocolate chip cookies baked in vanilla cake layers with edible chocolate chip cookie dough sandwiched between them, covered in vanilla buttercream, chocolate drizzle, chocolate buttercream, more of the edible cookie dough, and chocolate chip cookie pieces.
At 16, Adam was fighting the biggest battle of his life-a nasty foe called NUT Midline Carcinoma. NUT carcinomas are very rare and very aggressive. Typical life expectancy after diagnosis is 6-9 months. Adam bravely fought this cancer for over a year, inspiring many of us to try harder, be better, and love more-be .
Join Adam’s family and friends Saturday morning at City Church in Gastonia for a blood drive and bake sale. COVID-19 has impacted blood donations and many people who depend on transfusions are suffering. Give the gift of life and support pediatric cancer research. And try one of Adam’s Cupcakes.
