History and HeritageImmigrant roots: Giuseppe and Angella Nardello smuggled the seeds from their garden in southern Italy when they immigrated to Connecticut in 1887.Saved by family: Out of their 11 children, their son Jimmy faithfully grew the peppers and saved the seeds for decades, eventually donating them to the Seed Savers Exchange before he passed away.Slow Food recognition: Because of their rare heritage and exceptional taste, they earned a coveted spot on Slow Food’s Ark of Taste.
