Our popular Carrot Cake Muffins are gluten and dairy free, made with a heap of organic carrots, coconut, and free range eggs. They have been a perennial favorite since the dawn of The Pie Maker in 2013, and we are proud to send hundreds of them home with you all every Thursday and Friday this summer.

Order online or leave us a voicemail for pickup at the bakery in Cortez on Thursday evenings, or come see us at the south end of Oak St in Telluride on Fridays through mid October.

Apparently it’s that time of year again, when local small businesses are pitted against one another in a social media popularity contest while the local newspaper drums up advertising revenue. We’re not sure how organic these votes are, but we appreciate and welcome your support in any way that you like. There are a few more days to click the link and vote for your favorite bakery.

What IS organic is most of our ingredients, though sometimes Local wins over organic certification. We have been making small batch, made from scratch pies and pastries in Montezuma County for well over a decade, everything created with care and love. We believe in authenticity and integrity, and none of our baked goods EVER came frozen from a food supplier. Everything we sell represents hours, days, and weeks of painstaking labor to bring you the best that we can make.

Thank you for your ongoing support for all of these years. For summer 2026 you can order ahead for pickup on Thursday evening, but weekend hours and popup events will happily resume this autumn.

We will have a big pile of pie available at the Telluride Farmers' Market this Friday. Come see us down at the bottom of South Oak St, across from the gondola station, first come first serve beginning at 10:30.

New this week is organic Key Lime with a gf pretzel crust!
We will also have full size and individual size quiche, mini organic local peach pies, and lots of other sweet and savory pies, muffins, brownies and cookies.

Thanks for a fantastic BlueGrass weekend everyone!

After all the pies and pastries were gone for the day we were able to catch some outstanding music, including one of our favorite banjo driven bands, .
We gifted them a Razzleberry Pie with organic blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry fruits. You can get one next week at market, or try some of the other summer fruits coming in strong, like Local Apricot or Strawberry Rhubarb. See you there!

We will be at Telluride Farmers' Market this Friday at 10:30 during Telluride Bluegrass Festival with sweet and savory pies and pastries. Come see us and all the other vendors on Oak St on your way into the festival and get yourself something good for the weekend!

First COLORADO Organic Apricots of the summer!

We will be baking Apricot Galettes beginning this week: For telephone preorder in Cortez and preorder/walkup at the Telluride Farmer’s Market on Friday.

As many of you are aware, this has been a particularly difficult year for our farmers. The extraordinarily warm winter started trees budding early and then froze out all of the fruit blooms during the spring’s late frost. Many of our local growers lost their entire crops for the year, including The Pie Maker’s friends and organic fruit provider, Topp Fruits in Hotchkiss.

So this weekend the bakery went on a little roadtrip out to Palisade to pickup 500 pounds (!!) of Colorado grown, organic apricots from Rancho Durazno , a sister farm to Topp Fruits. We are thrilled to bring them home to you all, and to turn them into beautiful pies.

We had a gorgeous drive through the high deserts, forests, mountains, and orchard country of western Colorado. We saw firsthand the incredible amount of care, labor, and cost there is to growing and transporting our local foods.
Shop local, eat local, and fortify our communities whenever able. It depends on all of us!
