Do you know when a friend recommends a restaurant and you want to trust them, but you’ve got to experience it for yourself?

I had a customer like that yesterday.

I could tell she wasn’t quite sure about us. Especially because we’re fast casual.

She ordered, found a table, and honestly, I had no idea what she was going to think.

When I checked on her later, she had softened. She had the biggest smile and said, I can tell you use high-quality ingredients.

And that meant so much more than she probably realized.

Because from one foodie to another, but also from someone who deeply cares about what I put into my body, what I create, what I serve, and how I feed my community.

I immediately knew she got it.

She understood the intention behind the food without me having to explain any of it.

Because I know the struggle of not wanting to cook, but still wanting to feel good about where you’re eating.

I’m grateful we get to be that place for so many people.

A conversation with a grandmother yesterday reminded me of something. We’re not just serving the person with the dietary restriction. We’re serving the people who love them too. ♥️

One thing I’ve noticed since opening Saucy Mamas is how many people tell me Corpus Christi really needed a place like this.

And honestly, I’m noticing tourists say the same thing too because they’re coming from cities where healthier food options are much easier to find.

Yesterday alone I had a vegan family in town for a graduation excited to find they had multiple things to choose from here, not just one lonely option on a menu.

Then later I spoke with a man in his 60s who’s trying to make healthier changes but feels overwhelmed because he doesn’t really cook and doesn’t know where to start. Once we started talking and he realized I’m a holistic nutritionist, I could almost feel him relax a little as I walked him through the menu.

And honestly, I think that’s part of what people are looking for now. Not perfection. Not diet food. Just a place where you can enjoy yourself, eat really flavorful food, and trust that the ingredients were chosen with your health in mind.

As a total Foodie with a culinary and holistic nutrition degree, it is such a thrill to create a menu for you to enjoy.

These last couple weeks of school feel like a marathon and I am definitely not a runner.

Ceremonies, graduations, storms rolling through (that thunder was intense), packed schedules, trying to keep up with regular life on top of all of it. Everybody just feels a little extra exhausted right now.

Whenever I grab food out, I want to actually enjoy it and not feel like I completely wasted calories eating it.

Honestly, that’s one of the reasons I’m so proud of what we serve here.

Thoughtful ingredients. No artificial colors or dyes. No seed oils. Just real food crafted intentionally.

A place where you can enjoy yourself, feel taken care of, and have the energy to get back to all you have to take care of. ♥️
