We cannot believe we are making this announcement, but we are thrilled to share that StrEAT Corner Kitchen, led by Chef Sarah, has earned a Golden Ticket to the World Food Championships in Indianapolis! 🎉🥳
We originally entered in Seafood & Pro Chef divisions. We had practiced with our team and executed our dishes to the best of our abilities. While there were some hiccups along the way, we actually placed fourth for Pro Chef 💙 Truly an honor in its self, as we competed alongside real chefs all over Texas.
Fourth place led us to being able to enter the 2nd Chance Qualifier, where we were challenged to make our version of a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. And guess what - we placed FIRST (🤯🤯) and we were given a Golden Ticket to the next level of competition in INDIANAPOLIS!!!
We are all still processing, and overcome with gratitude. We went into this competition with the goal of challenging ourselves and creating something to represent Corpus Christi. Our dishes honored the spirit of community, and we spoke to the judges about how important it is that members of this industry support each other. Overall, we had a blast, learned so much, and made some great chef friends from all over the country.
But it’s not over! Keep an eye out for details on our journey to the World Food Championship with chefs from ALL OVER THE WORLD 🌎
Extremely special thanks to the crew: Adam, Abel, and Tony (chef Fresco). We navigated this experience together and collaborated our ideas into a dish that was more than just food on a plate. Thank you guys for honestly putting up with a lot from Chef to get through this 😅
Huge thank you to our friend Chef Z for the knowledge, tools, and support.
Thank you to our friends at Boarri Craft for sponsoring the beautiful bone-in chops that got us fourth place!
Thank you to The Jelly Queens for sponsoring the Second Chance Qualifier - The Biscuit and Jampionship! We LOVED working with your product 💜
And of course, thank you to Texas Food Championship for the opportunity to express ourselves through food. We are TIGHTENING UP our skills and going into the next round with better technique.
