Our deepest desire and greatest privilege is magnifying the Lord Jesus Christ in all things, not only as we honor and pay respects to a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, but also while we celebrate the life and legacy of Abe Whitfield.
Abe loved his family, and there was no sacrifice he wouldn’t make to express that to his wife, son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He loved Corinth and thoroughly enjoyed serving and sharing life with so many folks he considered extended family and friends across the counter, through the window, and on the barstools of Abe’s Grill since opening 52 years ago on March 11, 1974.
Thank you all for the incredible kindness you have shown our family through your constant thoughts and prayers. Above all, thank you for respecting this sacred time as we savored the seconds and treasured the time God graciously gave us before Abe entered glory at 1:38 AM this morning.
At this time, we kindly ask— knowing you all carry heavy hearts and fond memories, too— that you please allow us time to process, grieve, and rest after an emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausting week. Thank you for messages and the desire to call, but please bear with us as we are having to prioritize and focus our responses for official purposes and immediate family who are making traveling arrangements.
Please know funeral arrangements will be publicly posted no earlier than Monday evening, September 14.
Location, times, and date will be updated once arrangements are finalized.
Thank you for sharing in our loss and our love for Abe. The most tangible way you can express love and support is through prayers now and in the coming days. May you all know how deeply grateful we are for your sincere condolences and compassion.
On behalf of the Whitfield family,
Terri, Ryan, and Abbey
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV
