Happy National Photography Day.

Some places just ask to be photographed. The cupola at first light, the porch in afternoon shadow, the lake holding the whole property still. We have been giving people a reason to reach for the camera since 1909.

There is a point above Otsego Lake where the whole valley comes into view at once. The water, the village of Cooperstown, the fairways at Leatherstocking Golf Course, and the resort sitting quietly at the center of it, since 1909.

This is the lake James Fenimore Cooper called the Glimmerglass. We just call it home.

A familiar face is back at The Otesaga.

Dwight Sanford has rejoined our team as Executive Director of Resort Operations. Many here remember Dwight from the 2021 and 2022 seasons, when he helped shape the guest experience and mentored the people around him. In the years since, he served as General Manager of the Embassy Suites Atlanta Buckhead, following leadership roles with Waldorf Astoria, Rosewood, and Four Seasons.

His focus now returns to the heart of the property: our Rooms Division, and the front office, housekeeping, and laundry teams whose care guests feel from the moment they arrive.

Welcome back, Dwight. It is good to have you home.

From above, the eighteenth tells the whole story: the island tee, the bridge across the water, the fairway bending along Otsego Lake, and beyond it, the hotel that has watched over this course since 1909.

A course holds up like this because people make it. Please join us in welcoming Matthew McCullough as the Otesaga's new Sous Chef.

Matthew comes to us from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with more than 20 years of culinary leadership experience. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he has worked in some of the country's most respected hospitality destinations, including Yellowstone National Park, Vail Resorts, Grand Teton National Park, and the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman. He has led culinary teams through major openings, renovations, and high-volume operations, always with an eye toward quality and team development.

We're glad to welcome his experience and creativity to our culinary team.

Please join us in welcoming Julia Kleczkowski to The Otesaga as our new Front Office Supervisor.

Julia comes to Cooperstown from the Hilton Boston/Dedham, where she managed front desk operations for a 267-room hotel. She brings a real passion for guest service, a degree in Global Hospitality and Tourism Management earned Magna Cum Laude, and an MBA underway.

She is among the first faces guests will meet at the front desk, and she is ready to help every arrival feel like the welcome The Otesaga is known for.

Some mornings on Otsego Lake belong to the early risers. Long before the porch fills or the first tee time, the water goes glassy and still, and a few make their way across it stroke by stroke, with the resort watching from the far shore.
