Tiki's Back In The Day Cafe Up and coming family owned restaurant business. Ready to take you back to those days of eating that "good" food.

Tenisha, (aka Tiki), as a child became known as Tiki by her beloved Grandmother and decided as a tribute to her, she would name her first business Tiki's. Her love for cooking quality food gave her the idea to start catering and eventually open up her own Cafe. She takes pleasure in making sure that everything she cooks leaves her customers pleased and very satisfied.

Whew… y’all, your girl is TIRED! 😂

Today’s catering event is done, everybody was fed, and I am officially running on prayers and leftovers. 🤣

I spent so much time cooking and making sure everything went out right that I completely forgot to take pictures. So hopefully somebody out there got some good ones because I sure didn’t! 📸🤦🏾‍♀️

As tired as I am, I’m grateful. Thank you for trusting Tiki’s Back In The Day to be part of your special moments. There’s nothing better than seeing empty pans and knowing people enjoyed the food.

Now excuse me while I sit down somewhere and pretend I’m not thinking about tomorrow’s dishes. 😂

And don’t worry… there’s plenty more to come! More catering, more events, and more opportunities to share a little love from my heart to your plate. 💜

Y’all have been keeping me busy with these comments and food memories. 💜

One thing I’ve learned is that everybody has that meal that takes them right back home. The smell, the taste, the memories… all of it.

That’s exactly why I started Tiki’s Back In The Day.

Not just to serve food, but to create those moments that bring people together around the table.

Let’s settle a debate… 😂

When you went to Grandma’s house, Auntie’s house, or Sunday dinner with the family, what was the ONE dish you couldn’t wait to get your hands on?

For me, it wasn’t even a question. I already knew what I was fixing on my plate before I walked through the door. 😂

One thing about me… I’m always cooking up something. Sometimes it’s food, and sometimes it’s ideas. 😊

Even though I haven’t been posting much, I’ve been putting in work behind the scenes and really thinking about what I want Tiki’s Back In The Day to become.

I’ve spent a lot of time planning, learning, applying for opportunities, and figuring out how to grow this business in a way that stays true to who I am and why I started.

My goal has never been to just sell food. I’ve always wanted to create something that brings people together, creates memories, and feels like home.

Some of the things I’ve been working toward include:

💜 HeatWave Plates – homemade heat-and-eat meals for busy days when you want a good meal but don’t have the time or energy to cook.

💜 Sunday Dinner Pop-Ups – because there was a time when Sunday dinner meant family, laughter, and everybody gathering around the table. I’d love to bring a little bit of that feeling back.

💜 Seasonings and sauces – so you can enjoy some of that Tiki’s flavor in your own kitchen.

💜 More catering opportunities, community events, and partnerships that allow me to continue doing what I love—feeding people.

This journey hasn’t always been easy. There have been plenty of long days, late nights, and moments where I questioned myself. But every step has taught me something, and every challenge has made me more determined.

I’m excited about what’s ahead, and I’m grateful for everyone who’s been rocking with me through all the ups, downs, twists, and turns.

Now I have a question for y’all….

Well... look who finally remembered the password to her business page. 😂 Just kidding…😉

I know it's been a minute since I've posted. Life has been life-ing, I've been working my full-time job, handling responsibilities, taking time out to do things with my family, and building Tiki's Back In The Day behind the scenes. Some days it felt like there weren't enough hours in the day, and other days I was just trying to remember what day it was.

But don't mistake my silence for inactivity. I haven’t forgot!!

While I haven't been posting, I've been planning, learning, applying for opportunities, developing new products, and figuring out how to take Tiki's to the next level.

This journey has never been easy, but if there's one thing I know how to do, it's keep going.

I'm excited because there are some new things coming, including seasonings, sauces, HeatWave Plates, Sunday Dinner Pop-Ups, catering opportunities, and a few other ideas I've been cooking up.

For those who have supported me, shared a post, placed an order, stopped by a vendor event, prayed for me, encouraged me, or simply followed along on this journey—thank you. It means more than you know.

Tiki's Back In The Day was built from my love for feeding people and bringing folks together, and that hasn't changed.

So consider this my official "I'm back outside" post. 😂

Hey y’all! Just poppin’ in to say—yes, we’re still alive and kickin’! 💜

I know it’s been a little quiet on the HeatWave front, but don’t worry—we didn’t pack up and move to the islands (tempting though). Life just decided to throw a few unexpected curveballs, and let’s just say… the launch hit a slight speed bump. 😅

But listen—good food takes time, and greatness? That takes a little longer. I’m using this extra time to make sure every detail is right. Because if you know me, you know I’m not about that half-done life. We’re aiming for “shut your mouth, this is good!” level, not “meh, it’s okay.”

So thank you for your patience, your love, and your side-eyes wondering where we at. 😂

HeatWave season is still coming—just simmering low like a good pot of greens. Stay tuned. 🍽️🔥

🎉Whew! Y’all ever been so busy that your to-do list starts its own to-do list or needs a personal assistant ?😅 Well, that’s us right now! Between stirring pots, packing plates, mixing seasonings, and chasing dreams—we’ve been cooking up a whole lot of goodness behind the scenes!

🔥But don’t worry, we’re not too busy to show up and show OUT! Catch us this Saturday, June 21st at the City of Bloomington’s Juneteenth Celebration and you already know we’re bringing that Tiki’s flavor with us!

✨ Come get a plate, be entertained, shop around and enjoy a little history while you’re at it. It’s gonna be good vibes, good food, and good people—all the things Juneteenth should be.
