From Jordon at Lemons & Dough Yesterday reminded us of something importantā¦
We could choose to focus on the fact that after months of extreme drought, Mother Nature somehow decided that the first two dates of our five-date Sunday Funday series were the perfect time to send us rain. š§ļøš
Orā¦
We could choose to focus on everything else.
The visitors who came anyway.
The children who laughed and played.
The families who spent their Sunday together.
The food trucks and tent vendors who believed in a brand-new idea and took a chance on our vision.
The sponsors who believed in us.
The volunteers, entertainers, and everyone behind the scenes who poured their hearts into making this happen.
There were simply too many blessings and too many silver linings to let a little rain steal our joy.
Sunday Funday has never been about lining our pockets.
It was created to help put food on the tables of our family and the families of the incredible small businesses we get to share this journey with. Itās about helping send kids to theatre, buying school supplies, paying bills, and creating opportunities for local businesses to thrive together.
But even more than thatā¦
Itās about looking out of the service window and seeing children running through the grass, hearing laughter, watching friends reconnect, and seeing families spend an afternoon making memories that may have otherwise been just another ordinary Sunday.
That is what this has always been about.
One of the moments that touched us most yesterday came from Ava and the Westbury family. ā¤ļø
As many of you know, we had a donation station set up to help support Ava as she continues her battle with leukemia. Instead of us giving to them, they surprised us with the most thoughtful gifts.
It was a beautiful reminder that even when we wish we could do moreāerase the financial burdens, take away the fear, or simply make illness disappearāwhat we can do still matters.
Showing up matters.
Giving what youāre able matters.
Standing beside someone matters.
Loving your community matters.
The treasures they gave us will travel with us everywhere we go and will forever remind us that kindness has a way of coming full circle.
To every visitorā¦
Every sponsorā¦
Every food truckā¦
Every tent vendorā¦
Every entertainerā¦
Every volunteerā¦
Every person who shared a post, invited a friend, or simply showed upā¦
Thank you.
From all of us at Lemons & Dough and The Clever Cleaver, thank you for helping water a tiny seed that we hope grows into something far beyond anything we ever imagined.
Weāre just getting started. šš
