They buy the Story behind the t-shirt...

How did I learn to cook BBQ so well and master my Brisket and ribs recipe

My Dad, but he didn't just teach me his recipe, as Matter of Fact...my recipe isn't his recipe...some of it is...

Dad was a true Texan, very proud of his culture and where his roots came from🇨🇱

All of my life Momma & Dad cooked a lot, it was a shared love language in our Family and still is...

When we moved to Utah, my parents were chasing thier grandkids and we migrated west together...

Little did we know, when you leave Texas good food wasn't easily found on every corner or anywhere for that matter...

So I decided to start BBQ'N myself, I started with pork ribs in a small little smoker I bought from Cabela's...

I had practiced on my friend’s from Utah and brother's to get some feed back for awhile before I ever let my Dad try them...

Then when I felt a little confident, I invited my Brother in-law, sister and my entire family over to Momma & Dad's for dinner, I was cookin...

Nervous as all get out, my family knows good food, so I knew I had some real judges...especially Dad!

Everyone ate, said they enjoyed it, said thank you of course and everyone went about thier way...

I didn't feel like I had that wow factor I was hoping for, but thier plates were empty at least..

Until the next day...

Dad came walking through the door with 8 racks of ribs in his hands, I looked at him a little confused...

I had never in my life seen my Dad buy pork ribs on the bone, it was always pork shoulders or brisket with him...

I asked do you need any help with anything else in truck Dad?

He said no, this is all I bought...

Still confused I'm lookin at him like, why?

Dad looked at me and I'll never forget this in all of my life...

He said, you nailed those ribs last night and for the first time I can remember, he said, I'm proud of you son...

I need you you to cook these for my client's, can you do that for me?

You're dang right I can Dad!!

I cooked those racks of ribs like I was playing the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia and Tiger Woods was Chef Ramsey watching my every move...

A fire was lit inside me to perfect what my Dad finally trusted me with and was proud of me for...I felt as if I had finally met his expectations of me for once in my life...BBQ was serious business to Dad

I actually never Smoked a Brisket myself until after my Dad had passed and I felt like the torch was finally passed to me to Keep my Dad's legacy and love language alive in my Family...

Texas Brisket Barn was Born some years later and I'll Continue to Cook in the Blankenship name in Honor of my Dad, hopefully I'm still making him proud of me...

Thank you Dad, for teaching me to put Love into Everything I do!!💯🇨🇱

Love you!!
