Happy Friday CK fam. It’s been a hot week 🥵

As promised, our second Sal inspired dessert is here.

Did you know that we officially opened during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic? Dine in wasn’t allowed yet, so we started as take out only. It feels like yesterday that the three of us unlocked the doors for the very first time🫶🏼

We’re featuring Peach Champagne Sorbet, one of the sorbets Sal had delivered to us, paired with a lemon, olive oil cake layered with a light pastry cream. It’s a bright and refreshing end of the week treat 🍋🍑

And if you’re feeling a little extra… we’ve been enjoying that sorbet in a more liquid form 😉 Ask about our Prosecco Float🍾

First and foremost we want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support 🤍 It’s a surreal feeling to be open and operating as we mourn the loss of Sal.

One of Sal’s final contributions to The Corner Kitchen arrived in the form of sorbet. A couple of weeks ago Sal texted us that he had sent a shipment of sorbet to the restaurant and had ideas for dessert.

While we’ll never know what delicious creations he had in mind, we thought we’d do our best to carry on the inspiration. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be carrying a line up of dessert specials built around Sal’s selection of sorbet. A small way of honoring a chef and partner who brought so much creativity and passion to our kitchen.

First up: Blackberry Cabernet Sorbet with Vanilla Bean Cheesecake.

Dear CK Fam,

It is with heavy hearts that we share some difficult news. On Sunday morning, Sal passed away after complications from the aggressive cancer he had been fighting 💔

We’ve lost a brother, dear friend, business partner, and cherished member of our family. Sal brought so much warmth to The Corner Kitchen. His smile and his genuine love for cooking touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Sal wasn’t just part of The Corner Kitchen; he helped build it from the ground up. His friendship, dedication, and passion helped shape who we are, and we simply wouldn’t be where we are today without him.

Our deepest sympathies are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. As we grieve this tremendous loss, we look back on the countless memories, laughs, and moments we shared with him over the years.

We will always remember Sal for the kind-hearted and generous soul he was, and we invite those whose lives he touched to share a favorite memory or story.

We’ll miss you, Sal 💛🕊️

Happy Sunday CK Fam 💛

We wanted to share an update on Sal’s journey and thank each and every one of you for the incredible support you’ve shown for Sal. You can see how much he is cared for and loved by everyone!

Unfortunately, the treatment that he was doing was not effective. While this news has been difficult, he is not giving up. He is moving forward with a different treatment plan and we all are remaining hopeful that it will bring the results he needs.

During this challenging time, your generosity, prayers, kind words, and support have meant more than can be expressed. Every donation, every share of the GoFundMe page, and every message of encouragement has helped carry him through some very difficult days. He is deeply grateful to all of you.

As he continues treatment, we ask for your continued prayers, positive thoughts, good vibes, and support. The road ahead is still uncertain, but knowing he has such a caring community behind him is amazing.
