🍳 Our Latin Farm Breakfast
We eat good around here.
This simple, hearty breakfast is one we've enjoyed for years: a warm bed of Sona Masoori rice topped with two sunny-side-up farm-fresh eggs, with organic black beans on the side.
Our eggs come from our own chickens, raised on pasture and fed organic feed. We use organic black beans and Sona Masoori, a traditional South Indian rice we buy from our local Indian market.
(You may notice a little Indian influence around our farm, too. We raise Indian cattle and, as a result, we have many Indian friends. Over the years we've developed a real appreciation for Indian foods, ingredients, and traditions. So don't be surprised when something from the Indian market finds its way into our farm kitchen.)
We especially love that this isn't just a plate of rice. The eggs add protein and fat, while the black beans bring fiber and plant protein, making this a hearty, balanced breakfast that sticks with you.
Simple ingredients. Real food. Farm eggs.
That's breakfast around here! 🌾🍳

Forever in our hearts, we remember the wisdom of Grandpa Joe. He always lived by the beautiful sentiment that no time is ever lost when joy awaits at the end. His legacy reminds us that it is never too late to pursue what makes us happy. What is a piece of advice from a loved one that you carry with you today? ✨🙏 https://wix.to/X2l9a5r

FLAG on the Farm welcomes neighbors, families, and visitors to linger, learn, and belong. Located at Green Family Farms in Commerce, Texas, just outside the city limits, we're close enough to be convenient but far enough out to do things a little differently.
Being outside the city limits gives us more freedom to offer experiences that are harder to find elsewhere. Here, we can cut through the “greenwashing,” talk honestly about where food comes from, and let you experience real farm life and regenerative agriculture firsthand.
For our friends in the Metroplex, we're about an hour's drive away. That may sound a little inconvenient, but once you get here, you'll understand why people make the trip.
It's a different pace out here.
Experience regenerative farming. Enjoy café favorites made with real farm ingredients. Attend classes and community events. Meet people, have conversations, learn something new, or simply sit for a while and enjoy being away from the rush.
Come by and feel at home-there’s a place for you here. https://wix.to/6N59U47

A $36 Chicken... Really?

I know that $36 for a whole chicken might sound expensive at first.

But let's put it into perspective.

Many of us think nothing of spending $20–25 per person for a single meal at a restaurant. A family of four can easily spend $80–100 for one dinner—and that's before the tip.

Restaurants typically mark up menu prices to about 3 to 4 times the cost of the food itself (roughly a 200–300% markup) to cover labor, rent, utilities, and other expenses. Before the food even reaches the restaurant, distributors such as Sysco or US Foods have already added their own markup—often 10–30%, depending on the product and volume.

Now think about what you're getting with one of our whole chickens.

This isn't a bird raised in six weeks under commercial conditions. It's a slow-grown chicken, raised on pasture, eating organic feed, foraging for grass and insects, and living in fresh air and sunshine for about 14 weeks.

One chicken can easily become three nutritious meals:

🍗 Meal 1: Roast or fry the legs, thighs, and wings.

🥪 Meal 2: Slice or shred the breast meat for chicken salad, casseroles, tacos, or sandwiches.

🍲 Meal 3: Simmer the back, neck, bones, and remaining meat into a rich, mineral-packed bone broth. Add vegetables and you've created a hearty soup—or simply enjoy the broth on its own.

That's three meals from one bird.

Instead of paying for one restaurant meal that's gone in an hour, you're investing in several meals made from food raised with care, without shortcuts, and with nutrition that's difficult to find in today's food system.

Sometimes the cheapest food at the checkout ends up being the most expensive when you consider what you're really getting. Sometimes the best value isn't the lowest price—it's the food that nourishes your family, stretches across multiple meals, and supports the farmers growing it the right way.
