A little peak into the Rusty Texan, a bar and grill specializing in Southern food, paying homage to Texas and it's rich, diverse roots. Barbeque, Fish and Shrimp, Tex-Mex, Burgers and hand cut fries, and lots more, as well as ice cold Imported and Domestic beers, plus some local brews, we have craft brews, and even a few high end beers. Pool tables, dart board, foos ball and shuffleboard tables are set up in the game room, free to play. Large sports TVs line the walls in the dining room and the game room, so sit back in one of our large lounge chairs, watch the game, have a beer and a bite to eat, bring the whole family, we have fountain drinks for the kiddos and lots of desserts to choose from.
You'll find us inside the main building to the Lions Den extended stay, and we're grateful they've allowed us to transform our part into an eating establishment this community will be proud of.

Quick show of hands, and no cheating either...oh, all right, you can show the WTV(giggle)F(giggle,giggle)D(straight face) which one is the hand and which one is the foot, we'll wait........................ Ok, I think a couple of them got it.
So, quick show of hands, or feet, who has missed ol Pops? Even just a little. Well, if you been asking yourself "where did he go? What's he been doing? Will we ever see that BBQ slinging, smart mouth running, his daddy was a pistol cause he's a son of a gunning, easy on the eyes, silver tongue, green eyed, moon walking while he's dabbing and flossing bastard again?"
At least one of you asked most of that, I'm sure of it.
Well, I've been doing what i do, and if you're ever in Commerce, and your belly starts to growl, drop in and say hi, I'll buy you a beer, make sure you're served up one of your old favorites.

OK folks, who's ready for some great food? We're talking Barbeque so beautifully smoked that Cheech and Chong take notes. So tender any of the teeth less Tawakonians can still eat it. A price so reasonable that the greed of the corporate competition take notice. (I use the word competition loosely because I'll still take the Pepsi challenge against anyone that wants to step up to the grill against me, from Soulmans to Sessions and everyone in between, behind and beyond. Let's not talk about it, let's be about it, bar none, fade all.)
Well, be looking for the signs that'll point the way, because they're coming.
We aren't doing the beckon call bbq anymore, or signature style stuff like elaborate sandwiches with funny names, or a menu so large it's intimidating. Brisket, Pulled Pork, Sausage, Chicken quarters (Leg and Thigh), Chicken wings (Jumbo bone-in) is what will be offered, all smoked daily in "Big Baby". (Don't worry, you'll know her when you see her)
Sides are going to be Mac n Cheese, Baked potatoes, Hand-cut fries, Okra, Coleslaw, and Salad Bar.
Desserts will be Peach Cobbler and Banana Pudding.
Ordering options are walk in and carry it out. Seating is available inside and outside as well.
Now, this is a passion that I love to share, but I work for a living too, so expect the gates to be open on the weekends only.

Pops final PSA, so let's make it a good one. And what better way for a good PSA than to exercise our 1st Amendment Right to its fullest.
On Sunday, June 23, 2024 around 4 or so in the afternoon Ken Whitehead and his wife Carol Whitehead, along with an unknown male removed the gate from God's Country Cafe (a private business they have no affiliation with) and stole the Pops Fish and Shrimp food trailer.
This business was purchased from Ken and Carol Whitehead on April 25, 2022. The purchase agreement was set to be paid out monthly, and a default clause was put into place to protect all parties. Ken and Carol Whitehead asked me recently to allow a friend of theirs to take over the purchase agreement for the balance owed, and considering that would be a bad business deal for me I told them no. So they took the business away anyway. I am not in default status on our arrangement, yet they illegally entered onto private property and removed a business that they sold as if they had every right to it.
Now, they haven't acted civilly in this matter, only criminally, but I'll allow the civil courts to deal with this and them. In the mean time though, it is my civic right and duty to say publicly that Ken Whitehead and Carol Whitehead, church elders and prayer warriors of Generation Faith Center, former owners of Pop's Fish and Shrimp,are liars and thieves. So Pop's Fish and Shrimp friends and family let's do what we do, let's pray for these lost souls.
