After 50 years of hospitality and 23 of those years being at Barcelona, our General Manager, Tim Hawkins has decided it is time to retire officially and start the next chapter in life.

Tim joined the Barcelona team on January 29, 2003 as a bartender and part-time manager. Tim was a fixture behind the bar since the beginning and transitioned from bartending full time in 2011 to become the General Manager of Barcelona. Over the past 23 years, Tim has been an integral part of everything that has happened here at Barcelona. His leadership in the restaurant helped to guide the whole team, create memorable events and celebrate all that life has to offer.

The restaurant industry has its ups and downs, challenges, evolution, and an impact on those around us; our guests and team members. Tim has been a driving force to help the restaurant navigate challenges and take advantage of new opportunities. As part of the Barcelona Family, Tim has been a key component of our ongoing success over the years. Customer service is black and white; hospitality is color. Tim has embodied this throughout his career as well as in his personal life.

Beyond 23 years at Barcelona, Tim’s hospitality career includes being a short order cook, a busboy, barback, waiter, bartender, assistant manager and general manager. Tim came to Barcelona after many years of being a part of K2U in the Short North.

Tim has been a co-worker, sounding board, voice of reason, steadfast supporter, cheerleader, confidant and, most importantly, a friend. Barcelona would not be what it is today without his hard work and dedication. Tim’s last official day is Thursday, January 29th. Feel free to stop by next week for Happy Hour and share a bit of time with Tim.
