🔥🎸 FIRST FRIDAY OF OCTOBER? WE’RE STARTING IT WITH SOME SERIOUS FUNK. 😎⚡

This Friday, October 2, Thump Daddy — Donald Payne is bringing the bass to Eldo’s at 9 PM — and his musical journey goes way back. 🎶🔥

Donald’s story stretches back to the ’70s, when he joined Columbus soul group The Crowd Pleasers. Through the group, he joined forces with legendary Ohio Player Walter “Junie” Morrison, touring with Junie before The Crowd Pleasers later landed a recording contract with Westbound Records. 🎸✨

His journey continued in the studio, including recording at Bootsy Collins’ studio in Cincinnati and working on recordings for Fred Wesley, whose career includes James Brown, Parliament/George Clinton, and Bootsy’s band. 🎶⚡

In 2004, Donald became the bass player for Dayton group Que and Malaika, who went on to open for George Clinton on his P-Funk Tour. 🤘🔥
And now the Bass Man is bringing the groove to Eldo’s!

to the Saturday platinum-selling Columbus rapper Doobie walked into Eldo’s and just hung out with his crew like it was any other night.

Real name Eric Williams. Columbus raised. Went from rap into rock and never looked back, blending hip-hop with the Alice in Chains and Metallica he grew up on. His song “When the Drugs Don’t Work” went platinum with over 115 million views. His 2025 debut rock album “Give ‘Em Hell Until You Get to Heaven” cemented the sound.

The numbers don’t lie. 1.23 million subscribers on YouTube. Nearly 300K on Facebook. This fall he’s on the same festival bills as Iron Maiden, Tool, and Limp Bizkit.

He’s linked up with Yelawolf on record. He’s shared stages with names across rap and rock. And on a random Saturday, he picked a stool at Eldo’s over anywhere else in the world.

That’s what this place is. Willie Phoenix calls it home. Kyle Gass played our stage. Mark Chatfield of The Godz, longtime guitarist for Bob Seger and now Grand Funk Railroad, brought his band here for a secret show. And Doobie just came through to hang like a regular.
