A lot has happened over the last several days.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with our community and all of Western North Carolina during this time. The devastation to so many places we love and hold dear sits heavily with us. We also want to share our gratitude to all of the first responders, linemen, and volunteers who are leading rescue and recovery efforts, and bringing relief to those affected by Hurricane Helene.
We also want to say a heartfelt good-bye from The Rural Seed.
We had quite the day planned for our last Brunch service, with lots of reservations made by friends and family we were hoping to see one last time. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. While our staff and the restaurant all fared well during Hurricane Helene, there was nothing we could do to save all of the food we had planned to serve. And truly, after all we have been through since 2018 (two floods, a chef who broke his shoulder, and COVID), going out with a whisper because of an inland hurricane somehow seems fitting.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has reached out in the last few days to check on us, as well as the hundreds of folks who have taken the time to call, message, or visit since we announced our closing. The community that has surrounded us during the last six years has been nothing short of amazing. Some of you have become like family, many of you have become friends, and each of you have made a lasting impression on us all. We are deeply saddened to lose such a wonderful connection to the heart of our area, and losing out on our last chance to serve you hurt us as much as it hurt you, if not more.
We will do our best to keep in touch, and as our fantastic employees find their footing, we will let you know where to find them (at their discretion). We appreciate all of the support through all of our ups and downs, and hope to see you around town soon!
