Hey Big Back Nation. 🖤
It’s with the greatest sadness that we officially announce the permanent closure of Hudson’s At Main Street.
When we originally closed for two weeks, until September 14th, the plan was to renovate. We were going to redo the floors, replace the outside furniture, paint, replace broken ceiling tiles, and give this place the facelift it desperately needed.
And then we sat down.
We sat with it for a while.
And somewhere between making renovation lists, figuring out what needed fixing, and thinking about reopening those doors again… we realized something:
We’re tired.
Running a small business is hard. Really hard.
Everything costs more. Food costs more. Supplies cost more. Bills are high. Rent is high. People have less expendable income to eat out. Hell, at this point, breathing is high.
This past year has been one of the hardest we’ve ever had, and after fighting to keep going for so long, we finally decided we just don’t want to fight anymore.
And as heartbreaking as that decision is, there’s also a little peace in finally making it.
Because Hudson’s was never just a restaurant.
It was Big Back Nation.
For seven years, we’ve fed so many of you that you stopped feeling like customers and started feeling like family.
We’ve laughed together. We’ve learned about your families and watched your kids grow. We’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, graduations and everything in between. We’ve spent holidays together. We’ve fed people who needed a meal. We’ve shown up for this community, and y’all showed up right beside us.
We made some absolutely ridiculous food.
We made some questionable financial decisions in the name of brunch.
We probably put things on waffles that had absolutely no business being on waffles.
And we wouldn’t change a damn thing.
The memories we made inside those walls will stay with every single member of the Hudson’s family long after the doors are closed.
Seven years.
We would have never made it this far without every person who walked through our doors, shared our posts, told a friend about us, brought their family to brunch, ordered takeout, supported one of our crazy themed weekends, donated to one of our community projects, or simply kept coming back.
You gave us seven years.
Seven years of doing something we loved.
Seven years of feeding this city.
Seven years of Big Back Nation.
And we will forever be grateful for every single one of them.
So this isn’t the reopening announcement we thought we’d be making on September 14th.
Instead, it’s our goodbye.
Thank you for loving our food.
Thank you for loving our people.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your families, your celebrations and your lives.
And thank you for making Hudson’s At Main Street something we will be proud of for the rest of ours.
We love you, Big Back Nation. More than you’ll ever know.
