Nasir Latif already had two decades in Columbus restaurants behind him when he and his son Jamal opened Lavash in Clintonville in December 2008. He had started Firdous near the Ohio State campus back in 1988, then sold it. What he came back to at Lavash was his mother's hummus recipe, carried over from Palestine and still made from scratch, chickpeas soaked overnight, nothing skipped.
The menu covers falafel, shawarma, kabobs, tabouleh with fresh mint, grape leaves stuffed with seasoned rice, and hummus in a few versions including black bean. Fresh pita is made in house and comes with nearly everything. There is a bakery next door now, plus indoor and outdoor seating, takeout, and catering. They are closed Mondays.
