From humble beginnings to becoming a beloved fixture in Columbus's culinary scene, Yunier Macola and Yajaira embody the spirit of perseverance and passion that fuels small businesses. Macola’s journey started with a full-time maintenance job by day and a sideline of selling fresh squeezed lemonades at local events in Columbus. However, facing stiff competition, he pivoted towards offering Cuban delicacies and eventually found his niche with the irresistible allure of mini donuts. Undeterred by initial setbacks, Macola's determination drove him to invest considerable time and resources in perfecting his craft, even when equipment failures tested his resolve. With a growing family to support - they are now proud parents to five children, including their cherished and only daughter Sofia, whose name serves as the heart and cornerstone of their brand - the family poured their sweat and tears into building a thriving business. Through relentless networking and a commitment to learning the intricacies of the food truck industry, Macola transformed Sofi's Mini Donuts into a sought-after attraction at some of Columbus's most anticipated events. From the iconic Circleville Pumpkin Show to the Columbus art show, and local farmers markets to the vibrant Columbus Pride Festival, Sofi's Mini Donuts became synonymous with joyous moments and delectable treats. The alluring aroma of their signature cinnamon and powdered sugar-coated delights never fails to draw in eager patrons, creating bustling queues whenever Sofi's mini donuts grace the scene, whether it's amidst the Black Friday frenzy at Tanger Outlets or any other bustling event. Customers eagerly wait in line, not only to relish these irresistible bites but also to enjoy the spectacle of watching their donuts being freshly made.
