My friends at City of Refuge do great, often unnoticed work. Please help them, if you’re able.
A few weeks ago, a refugee widow walked into our office needing assistance with food. A reporting error had put an unforeseen pause to her EBT benefits, and while awaiting that $100/month support to be restored, she was relying on food pantry access to supplement her diet.
That day, she had tried to buy groceries but her card was declined. When asked what she needed most, she said chicken, as she is diabetic and did not have any protein.
Her Care Coordinator immediately recalled a donation that had just been brought in: a fresh, locally-butchered chicken that had just been placed in our freezer. Perfect timing! Joyfully, we were able to give the woman exactly what she needed, exactly when she needed it.
Our community partners, like the Food Bank, and your financial donations make it possible to show up at the right moment for someone. Be a part of meeting real needs by becoming a monthly donor at https://cityofrefugecolumbia.org/donate/
