Thanks!
Good evening to you all! Booches has been in operation since 1884, although most of us were not present at that time. Initially serving as a pool hall, Booches has since evolved into an historic establishment that has been located at its current location since 1928. This no-nonsense establishment operates with a unique philosophy, as evidenced by the signage displayed within its walls: βIf our food, drink, and service are not up to your standardsβ¦lower your standardsβ, and βNo sniveling!β For those unfamiliar with Booches, do not anticipate excessive pampering. The burgers are served in THEIR preferred manner (ketchup, mustard, pickle, and onion - there is an option of cheese or no) and on wax paper squares instead of plates. Sides are provided in individual bags of chips available at the time, and either a cold beer or soda fountain soft drink. A disposable bowl is provided for their chili. Booches is a cash-only establishment characterized by its lively atmosphere. One might question the rationale behind patronizing such an establishment. The most accurate description of the overall experience is the history those walls have witnessed, the countless instances of former MU students expressing grievances about their professors, the football team, or their romantic partners before achieving greatness, the sporting events witnessed on their televisions, and/or all the βfish storiesβ told there. The pool games played there. The burgers are delectable, and whether they are the best in town is a matter of personal preference. In my opinion, they are among the top five best burgers in Columbia. This evening, I indulged in two βBooche burgersβ with cheese, chips, and a Budweiser, all savored in the raucous environment affectionately known as Booches. If you have not visited in a while, or ever, I highly recommend doing so in the near future to partake in the enjoyment and nostalgia, and savor the burgers! , , ,
