If you feel you’ve had a lot of summer indulgence… I certainly have …consider a healthy “back to school lesson”.. .featuring not your same old same old stir fry… try sugar snap peas with chili crisp, blackened oyster mushrooms, and braised bok choy with sesame oil.

Last week I taught a kids cooking class for ages 7-10. I had forgotten how much I like this age. We made pizza with sautéed vegetables, homemade sauce and a crispy yeast dough. We also made 4 cheese Mac and Cheese, bacon cheddar burgers, chocolate chip banana bread, homemade ranch dressing, and “meatloaf cupcakes”with “mashed potato frosting”. Im so lucky to have a job I love!

Today was an amazing day in my advanced teen cooking class. I taught some… but I learned so much from my students… like how to manually sharpen a knife( I get mine professionally sharpened)… how to fold the perfect dumpling and how to make a beautiful mango rose for your sticky rice with coconut sauce.

Michelle's kitchen has been doing some healthy cooking lessons perfect for busy weeknights. Look at this sheet pan garlic rosemary chicken thighs with crisp potatoes & perfectly cooked asparagus. We also made farm fresh vegan succotash with olive oil, vegetable broth and fresh thyme. Family cooking lessons make for great summer time activities.
