Howdy everybody!
Theta General Store is looking sharp, always ready for a party or a meeting.

We are selling our beloved old store. Some of the deep history that comes with it-

Built in 1885, by BP Dalton,Over 240 years ago! It is a testament to the American Chestnut structure. In fact, most of the flooring, the paneling, and more, are Chestnut. We put a new metal roof, commercial standard bathrooms, modern hi efficiency HVAC. A new cedar porch deck

The store, is 4600 squ ft,total. The front showroom and kitchen are 3000 squ ft, with an additional 1600 in the rear, partially converted into a nice apartment.

It has had many operators, you can imagine, after all the years. We have historical photos from the early 20 th century, with model Ts, and women in tall tall hats. The store is a treasury of time.
Everybody has a story, and someone in
their family that once worked there, or lived there. Its been an honor, just being here to connect with the place, and the people who share its history, too.

We've won the notice of the historical world in Maury County, and without even trying, or asking ,we were awarded the 2023 "Nathan Vaught" award for best preservation project that year. After all the effort, the pat in the back was much appreciated.
We really want to find a good matchup between an appreciative new owner, operator, and a viable, functional piece of architecture, custom designed for a range of uses, and ready to serve our expanding population with great style.

The deep historical place that Theta General Store fills, in the hearts of all of our local friends, has been an inspiration during the years we have had the privilege to own it
We were honored, back in 2023, to receive the " Nathan Vaught" award from the Maury County Historical Society, for the best historic preservation project in all of Maury County !These are pictures from a monthly meeting that the Society held at the store. A month or so later, surprise,surprise, we are awarded this great honor.
Other deserving projects around our great County had to deal with our little homegrown restorations' notice from the historic community, and we have been very happy with all of the attention!
Its a long, difficult job, doing an accurate restoration, but, because the value comes from the decisions you make, and the quality of the work performed, over the long haul, it was so encouraging and helpful getting their endorsement, which was a big,big surprise to us at the time.
More glory to come, for a new owner. Maybe, a new generation can now enjoy the wonderful atmosphere for themselves.
We are letting the good folks who may have a desire to be the steward of this historic treasure we love so much ,know that its now time to let a new owner take over.
We are selling, with mixed feelings, I admit, but we will cheer on the next team that gets handed the baton,and believe me, for the right buyer, it can be very rewarding

Come visit the Theta General Store!. The big work is all done. The bar, the added space in the rear for an apartment! Still moving forward- Changed some antique doors out, improved the stage.
Its a constant metamorphosis, through years of figuring out what works.
Now, we would like to hand over the key to another owner, as our world calls us to different experiences.
I've done the redesign, and the construction of the present Theta Store. Its been a pleasure, and a big challenge.
We got a nice pat on the back, by winning a major restoration award from the Maury County Historical Society a couple of years back, but our biggest satisfaction has been simply being around such a place, enjoying peoples jaw dropping reaction to it, when they first see it. And operating a business that is so connected to its community, has been a real pleasure for Denise, and myself.
Our desire is to keep it connected as closely to the local community as possible. The Store is a treasure to be shared and enjoyed by everybody.

The Historic Theta General Store is at a multi crossroads, between Spring Hill, Leipers Fork, on down to Santa Fe, down the hill back to Columbia.
Its been a hub of local activity for over 140 years, and has seen many different owners.
Its time, now, to find the right, next operator. Not for lack of interest, or lack of vision, just getting a little older, and we are lucky enough to have many things we would like to do in old age.
I have other important business to take care of, too. Another country architectural gem, The Bank of Santa Fe, will get the attention it deserves. I may then, let a new owner take over there,as well.
If you are interested in taking a look at the Store, just PM me, and we can set up a showing. For the right individual, running the store can be a very enjoyable, meaningful opportunity. We would love to see the Store well cared for, to serve the area for another century. Bill
