🌮 Sopes are one of Mexico’s most traditional and beloved street foods, with roots that go back hundreds of years to the indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica. Long before modern tacos or burritos became popular, native communities in what is now Mexico were already cooking masa (corn dough) on flat griddles called comales. Corn was considered sacred in many cultures and became the foundation of daily meals.

The word “sope” comes from the Nahuatl word tzopetl, which refers to something thick or padded. Unlike a thin tortilla, a sope is made thicker and shaped by hand while still warm, pinching the edges to create a small rim. This rim acts like a bowl, helping hold all the delicious toppings in place.

Traditionally, sopes are topped with refried beans, fresh lettuce, queso fresco, crema, and flavorful meats. Different regions of Mexico have their own variations, sometimes called picadas or gorditas — which you can also try at our restaurant — but they all share the same comforting, handmade tradition.

Our sopes celebrate that authentic tradition with savory al pastor pork (or whichever meat you'd prefer), fresh toppings, and a handmade corn base that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Authentic, flavorful, and handmade with love — so you can enjoy a piece of Mexico anytime you stop by. 🇲🇽✨
