Who wears white to go eat BBQ??? Yeah... I thought of it too late, so I had to bring a TFK apron! Our TFK crew headed to The Chuckwagon 719 today for lunch and what a treat! It was the first time for all of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I love that it is a family business like us. We saw the entire family work today and had the pleasure of meeting the super nice owners Jared and Deidre.
As we were waiting in line, we were wondering about their organization. Do they start the smokers the night before and have someone watch the smokers all night in a lounge chair? Do they leave the smokers alone and hope no one will come help themselves? We had to ask! Well, they're just like us! We have our night bakers who come at 3am... they have their night smokers who come at 3am!
Now let's talk food! We had a mixed French and American team there, so as French people, we are not necessarily used to some items on the menu. It didn't matter. Flavors were spot on, and the meat definitely delivered a perfect tenderness, smokiness and beautiful flavor.
We tried a few things: The Texas Trinity, The Texas Tw***ie, the Brisket Elote (I loved that one), all of their sides and their two cobblers.
This place is definitely worth the wait and the drive. It's not just about the food, you get a whole experience, the crew is amazing, but be careful, you'll smell like bbq for the rest of the day, so if you're trying to hide where you went... that won't work 😜

Bonjour Colorado Springs! This new license plate carries a few stories!
🇧🇪 When I created The French Kitchen in 2012, and started to abbreviate it to TFK, my dear Belgian friend Aline told me these initials were way too close to The F**K. Thanks Aline! For so many years now, this has never left my mind 🤣so today, I am dedicating this license plate to you, Aline😘

⛷ In February 2025, I get a selfie from Matthew Schniper in front of my van, parked at Copper Mountain where I ski. We then found his car with the black license plate S1DEDSH for Side Dish with Schniper . That day, I decided my new license plate would have the letters of my business as well! Thanks Matt for the inspiration. And luckily, these 3 letters were available!

🚐In November 2025, as we stopped our wholesale program, we sold Vincent, the official TFK green van, so my grey van became the new face of The French Kitchen. I had to add the final touch to it to personalize it!

In France, you cannot personalize your license plate! I'm just having a little fun 😁
