We’ve gone back and forth about whether to say anything, but after the last few days, staying quiet honestly doesn’t feel right.
Love Bites has been part of Colonial Beach for years. We’ve poured an incredible amount of time, money, energy, creativity and love into creating a place that feels like part of this town—not just another place to grab coffee.
And small-town business is HARD.
Anyone who owns a business here knows what winter looks like. There are months when simply keeping the doors open is a fight. You hold your breath, make it through the slow season, and hope the busy months are enough to carry you through another year.
So yes, having another coffee shop open right around the corner from us is scary. We’re not going to pretend it isn’t.
And that’s why we’re asking our community to remember the businesses that have already been here, too.
The businesses employing local people. Paying rent and payroll. Supporting events. Donating. Collaborating. Showing up year after year and fighting through every January and February to still be here when summer comes around.
In a town this small, every purchase matters. These aren’t corporations with endless budgets behind them. They’re people trying to build something, employ people and keep their doors open.
We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built at Love Bites. We’re proud of the drinks we’ve created, the food we’ve introduced, the community that has formed inside these walls, and every person who has chosen to spend their money with us.
And right now, more than ever, we need you.
Come grab your favorite coffee. Pick up breakfast. Bring a friend. Share one of our posts. Leave us a review. Tell someone about us.
And if there is another established small business in Colonial Beach that you love, do the same for them.
Because “support small business” shouldn’t only be something we say when a ribbon gets cut.
It should also mean helping the businesses we already love stay here. 🤍
