25 years ago tonight,
246 people went to bed preparing for a flight in the morning
2606 people went to bed preparing for work in the morning
343 Firefighters went to bed preparing for their shift in the morning
60 Police Officers went to bed preparing for their patrol shift in the morning
8 Paramedics went to bed preparing to save lives during their shift in the morning
Not one of those people knew that this night would be the last time they kissed their significant other good night, told their significant other that they loved them, or knew this was the last time they would talk to their family and friends.
On 9/11/2001 at
846 am, the North Tower was struck by a commercial airplane
903 am, the South Tower was struck by a commercial airplane
937 am, the Pentagon was struck by a commercial airplane
959 am, the South Tower collapses
1007 am, Passenger Flight 93 crashes into a field in Pennsylvania
1028 am, the North Tower collapses
Minutes after the first airplane crashed into the North and South Towers and we realized that we were under attack, we were UNITED AND PROUD USA CITIZENS! EVERYONE had an American flag flying at their business, home and even off of their vehicles. Where did those people go? I know that they are still here! We need to be the people we were that day and the days following the attacks.
So tomorrow Nancy and I are taking 20% off of every Firefighter, Law Enforcement, EMT/Paramedic, Military personnel, active or retired meal. This is just for the First Responders meal not the entire bill.
Please take a minute and take a moment of silence in memory of all of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those who have died in the days, weeks, months, years following the attacks from breathing in the dust, chemical vapors, and ashes.
