7 years of June! 🇫🇷🌻
On August 21, 2019, we opened June for the very first time on Passyunk Ave. It also happened to be our daughter’s first birthday, and our son was just four weeks old.
Yes. We opened a restaurant with a one-year-old and a newborn. 🥴
After Covid, we relocated June to Collingswood and opened these doors on August 19, 2021 - which means this week also marks 5 years in Collingswood.
Today these kids are 7 and 8. They’ve spent their entire lives around the restaurant - running around before service, listening to line-up, cooking with Daddy, and clowning around with the staff. It’s all they’ve ever known.
This is us yesterday, standing outside June after our daughter’s 8th birthday party.
People sometimes hear “French restaurant” and assume fancy, serious, maybe even pretentious. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, it’s the four of us - very un-polished and chaotic - juggling school and sports and restaurant life, and generally trying to keep the circus moving. You’ll see Rich driving his beat-up car to ice hockey after service, and what you won’t see are the kids hiding in the kitchen during service, eating all the baguettes.
Over the years, June has changed and evolved more times than we can count. We’ve moved. We’ve grown. We’ve taken risks. We’ve made mistakes. We’ve celebrated some incredible moments and worked our way through some really difficult ones.
But the heart of it has always been the same: our little family and a French restaurant named June.
Some of you have been dining with us since the very beginning. Some found us when we moved to Collingswood. And some of you may have just discovered us.
Wherever you came into our story, thank you for being part of it.
And to our staff, past and present - thank you for every long night, every busy service, and everything you’ve done to help get June to where it is today. So many people have left their mark on this little restaurant, and we’re incredibly grateful for all of them.
Santé! 🥂 Et l’aventure continue…
