For our friends who haven’t been to College Park in awhile, this is what sits on the corner Plato’s used to be on. Wow 🤩!

It's official the new Prince George's County Trader Joe's opens on October 27th! The new store is located at 4429 Calvert Road just off of Baltimore Avenue as part of a housing and retail project called the Aster. Dedicated parking is available in a parking garage behind the store. Biking and walking to the store are also highly recommended especially during the first few months of opening.

I am also thrilled to share that as a part of the company’s longstanding Neighborhood Shares Program, the new College Park Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to enjoy to a range of non-profit, community-based organizations, seven days a week. The organizations receiving these items are based and active in Prince George's County.

End of an era. Plato’s we bid you a final farewell.

To you all, thank you for the blessings of your friendship and support throughout the many years. I have so many memories.

Like one night during a packed graveyard shift, a student jumps up onto the planter, bangs on the window and gets the whole dining rooms attention, and moons us all. 😂😂😂😂

We are so very sad to report that Plato's Diner caught on fire today. Gratefully, everyone is safe and no one was hurt. The diner however sustained considerable damage. Thank you to all the firemen who worked to put out the fire. We appreciate all of you.

Obviously, this is devastating. So many memories in the diner, so many friendships made. Tony and I met there, had our engagement party, our baby shower, our son's first birthday there. We have watched young children grow into young men and women. Platos has been a part of the community for over 21 years. And the people who have worked with us for years upon years, Cathy, Alvaro, Jimmy, Dawn, Omar, Melinda, Pete, and so many more...We sat together today and watched and cried.

Today it's emotional and raw. It's not how we planned. But it'll all be ok. We will build again.

Yesterday was my first day back to work in the diner in a few years and I just want to take a minute to say I am so grateful for all the familiar faces I saw and all the new people I met. So many of you have been coming to the diner for years and when I say years, I mean decades. I've watched your children go from toddlers to adults. One woman asked me, "How old is your oldest now? I remember when you were pregnant with him." It has been wonderful sharing these past 21 years with all of you.

When Plato's Diner opened on December 26, 1994, we were open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On the eve of Thanksgiving, we prepared to close for the first time in 11 months. Can you guess what problem we ran into?

We couldn't remember where we put the keys to the front door. Too funny. Great memories.
