Popcorn in Germany is a little different from the U.S. style you’re probably used to. Here’s what’s interesting about traditional German popcorn:

🍿 The Basics
• Sweet, not salty:
In Germany, popcorn is most commonly sweetened instead of salted. When you order “Popcorn” at a German cinema, you’ll usually get sugar-coated popcorn (sometimes caramelized), not the buttery/salty kind you’d expect in the U.S.
• Kettle-style cooking:
Sugar is often added while popping, giving it a glazed, crunchy exterior (similar to kettle corn in the States).
