🌿 Did You Know, Coeur d’Alene? ❄️ The Coeur d’Alene landscape has a remarkable story—one that goes back roughly 15,000 years to the last Ice Age.
Long before we were hiking Tubbs Hill, cruising Lake Coeur d’Alene, glaciers and repeated catastrophic floods from Glacial Lake Missoula were shaping Coeur d’Alene and the Inland Northwest.
🌊 Here’s the interesting part: Floodwaters may have reached 450 feet deep in places and raced across the region at up to 100 miles per hour. Those forces helped shape the valleys, lakes, and terrain we enjoy today.
So when you look across Lake Coeur d’Alene, you’re seeing more than a beautiful view—you’re seeing a landscape shaped by the powerful forces of the Ice Age.
