You did it. ❤️

In less than 48 hours, this community raised the $20,000 needed for Emmy’s service dog.

I don't think I can adequately put into words what it has meant to our family to watch so many people rally around this little girl. People donated, shared her story, told their friends, brought in cash, and helped in ways we never could have anticipated.

Because of all of you, Emmy is getting her service dog. ❤️🐾

So what happens next?
Now Emmy moves into the next part of the process — being matched with the right dog for her. From there, her dog will be trained specifically for Emmy and her needs.
That process can take around a year, and then comes the part we've all been working toward: Emmy and her family will travel to Ohio, where they'll spend two weeks learning and training alongside her dog before finally bringing them home together.

That trip will come with another set of expenses — airfare, a place to stay for two weeks, transportation, meals and time away from work.

For those who would like to continue helping Emmy on this journey, a separate fundraiser has been created to help her family cover those travel expenses when the time comes.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving this girl and showing up for our family. We will never forget it. ❤️

OUR FAMILY NEEDS YOUR HELP ❤️🐾

Most of you know Breaking Bread is truly a family business. If you've been with us for a while, you've probably seen different members of our family behind the counter at one point or another.

This is my niece, Emmy. ❤️

Emmy was born with a rare genetic condition called Coffin-Siris Syndrome. She has developmental delays and is non-verbal and uses an AAC device to communicate. Earlier this year, our family was thrown another curveball when Emmy began having seizures, including one that lasted more than 30 minutes. She has since been diagnosed with epilepsy and, despite medication, continues to experience seizures.

But we recently got some pretty incredible news — Emmy has been accepted by 4 Paws for Ability to receive a specialty trained service dog! 🐾

Her dog will be trained specifically for her needs, and even alert to seizures...this will help give Emmy more safety, support and independence as she grows. For our family, especially because Emmy can't always tell us when something is wrong, this is HUGE!

Over the years, I’ve watched this community show up for people in some pretty incredible ways — and I’ve watched Emmy’s family do the same.

Her dad, Eddie, is a Marine Corps veteran and serves our community in law enforcement. Her mom, Kacey, runs a local nonprofit dedicated to giving back to people throughout North Idaho.

They are a family that believes deeply in showing up for their community. And now, they need a little help from that community in return. ❤️

Our goal is big — $20,000 — but I’ve seen firsthand what this community can do when we come together.

And yes… the pumpkin donuts are BACK!

We’ll have our pumpkin donuts in the case every day until sold out, along with pumpkin bread and plenty of other fall goodness.
