Welp, here goes, sorry if it’s a bit long winded. I’ve come from having a few bucks in my pocket and not much to show for it, to this…I always wanted to start a bar/restaurant since I was a kid(besides being a baseball player). After 25 years in this biz, I scraped, borrowed, hustled, just to get the doors open. When I opened I said I wanted to be different. I want to provide a platform for people in my field to ACTUALLY make a living. I wanted career minded, long-term people, that could see the vision of what we do here. My people will always come first. I work for them, I work for you, I work for my family. We’ve successfully made a system that i believe pays my staff better than most could imagine who have been in the business. Yes I expect a lot, but I’ll put in 20 hours right by them at any point. My time clock never stops. I’ve implemented 401k plus I match, that includes part-timers, and match on all employees tipped income as well. We’re looking into different healthcare options, and nearly everyone in the building has 4 day work week. I also want this to be a company owned company. Long term employees can gain % along the way, and really use this business as a vehicle for their future. This was my priority since day one. If your foundation is strong, you give a s**t about your crew, and they have skin in the game, they take care of you in return. That being said, not everyone works out. Of course people come and go. It’s a roller coaster at times, but i still think they have played a role in our development, I still appreciate them. We learn, we grow. NONE of this happens without this crew. Newbies, veterans, everyone. There’s not enough thanks in the world I can give. I try though. I’m so proud of what these people have achieved. I’m sure some folks are going to say “i don’t get it” in regards to what we do here. There are many restaurants I’ve visited with great accolades that I just didn’t “get it”. Completely understandable, we don’t all like the same things! What I do know, is a lot of people DO get what we do here. For those that have shown us love over the years, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. For those that don’t “get it”, please know that each week we move forward, we improve our service, we improve our food, we improve our processes. We’re a very different restaurant than 2 or 3 years ago. We are in an extremely tough climate for our industry. However, I don’t complain, I’m the idiot that chose this!(kidding) But seriously, go out and eat at your locally owned establishments. Praise in public, criticize in private. Help build up these fun, quirky, special places in our community before we lose them. For all the locals and the repeat visitors we see, you mean the world to us. We get to wake up here, get to have fun days at work, in a gorgeous city, because of you! It’s a beautiful cycle in this little building, you take care of us, we take care of you! A special thanks to my family and my other half Rachel for being such a key piece of this business, and being my ultimate support. Everyone mentioned here gives me the motivation to keep bring my best every single day. Holy S$ man, what a trip! Much ❤️ Jes.
