The last couple days have been filled with quality local food. Like many of our neighbors, we pride ourselves in supporting and eating local.
For breakfast, we had whole wheat avocado toast, with a fried egg, cilantro micro greens from Putnam Micro-Farm & Co. LLC, and my mom’s homemade garden salsa.
An especially delectable dinner consisted of jalapeno cheddar sourdough from Loave Thy Neighbor, another fantastic ripe and juicy tomato from Brock Farm Stand, garlic chive and dill micro greens, also from Putnam Micro-Farm , and some thick cut bacon from Sand Ridge Farm Market & Meats, llc. BLTs or a derivative of them have become our summer weekend fave! They come together quick and taste oh so good! I’ve always loved them, but incorporating these amazing local ingredients elevates this sandwich unbelievably. For dessert, we had one s’mores cookie bar leftover and we split that. Yum!
The cool and dreary weather today reminds us that summer along with some of these fresh local items are fleeting, so don’t wait, get out there and make something great!
As a reminder, we’ll be back at the Canaan Community Church Craft & Farmers Market on Saturday with a couple fun new treats, some fan favorite ice cream flavors, and some lovely handmade crochet items. We hope to see you there!
