Medical Update:
As most (if not all) of my customers know by now, i was in a very bad car accident December 12th of last year. In the hospital in those first days, i was told the minimum reasonable length of time to be walking again would be about 6 months. I joked to my surgeon that i was going to make it happen in 4 instead, fully expecting that to not be possible. Since that day, i have undergone 4 surgeries, including major surgery on both knees, and worked hard with my surgeon and my physical therapist, and im pleased to announce that i took my first full steps April 13, at 4 months and a day. Ive lost a lot of muscle and my legs are still very shaky, so i can’t stand for long yet, but i want to give an update on my hopes moving forward. Our hours will not be able to return to normal yet, as i cannot trust my legs to work for the long doubles im used to pulling, but my goal is to start spending more time at the pizza store throughout May whenever i can, to get my head back into things and continue testing my stamina. If all goes as well as i hope, my goal will be to return to full time work (and normal store hours) at the beginning of June.
This has been a long, tough process for me, both physically and mentally. I just want to say a huge Thank You to everyone. The support and understanding from the communities in Shields Valley, for me personally and my business as well, has been a huge part of my determination and focus that has allowed me to stay so far ahead of schedule in recovery. I can’t wait to get back to our community and to work. Thank You!
