🕯️ Four Weeks From Today — October 20, 2026 🕯️

At dusk on October 20, we will gather at the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument for a candlelight vigil in honor and remembrance of the six lives lost on October 20, 1977.

During the vigil, Shawn Harmon of The Pedestrians Rock-N-Roll Band will play a special acoustic set as we pause to remember those whose lives were forever connected to this place and this day.

This is not a time to party.
It is a time to reflect, remember, and honor.

We remember:

October 20, 1977, changed countless lives. Nearly five decades later, we still remember the people behind the music, the families and friends who lost loved ones, and the legacy they left behind.

As the years pass, the music continues to carry their memory. And while we gather in a place marked by tragedy, we are reminded that “the memories are forever.”

So we light a candle for each life lost.
We pause for the families who carried the loss.
And we remember the music, the friendships, the dreams, and the lives that mattered long before October 20 became a date etched in history.
