We have been in these Autism streets for over 20 years.

Our daughter is almost at the age where she will no longer be able to participate in the program our district supports, and I’m scared.

Let me tell ya, if you think the move from elementary to middle school is big, try from school to life.

The same fear that I had when she was in first grade is still coming through now.

You know the one: “Will my child be mistreated?”

What do you do when your child can’t answer a common question without getting confused or overwhelmed?

It’s part infuriating and part frightening when a seemingly simple question invites confusion.

Whenever her anxiety is high, or she’s overstimulated, it’s almost guaranteed that we won’t get the full answer, and that’s scary.

We’ve had to learn how to become creative with how we ask questions.

Even though she understands, I’m still scared because the world is not always kind.

I know it’s time for me to lighten my hold on the reigns and allow her to experience more life.

So, we help her build community outside of us, advocate for herself, and take her time.

Let me tell ya momma, it ain’t easy.

In fact it takes everything in me to not hold on tighter.

But I know that if I do, I’m not helping her thrive.

If you’re at this point, or you see it in the horizon, ALL your hopes, fears, and joys are valid.

I don’t have a solution, but I don’t want you to give up in creating a world for your child that they can thrive in.

It’s not easy momma, but we can do it, together.

Find support and hold on tight. This Autism journey ain’t meant to be traveled alone.

I am pleased to share an important decision I have made after careful consideration. As my lease came to an end, I was faced with several important choices. It is remarkable how, at that precise moment, I was offered a job shifting careers that aligns with my life and simultaneously approached by a local baker eager to expand her skills and open a brick-and-mortar shop.

It's a true testament to divine timing.

Without disclosing the name of the business taking over the shop, I can confidently say that, after meeting with several potential buyers, this individual is the ideal choice to serve our community. I built this bakery with immense love and care, and I wanted to ensure it would continue to thrive in capable hands. I will be supporting her every step of the way, and I look forward to seeing her bring her passion and dedication to serving our community.

During this transition, I will be taking a brief break from accepting custom orders. However, once I settle into my new career, I plan to accommodate as many of you as possible baking from home. Clinton Township is fortunate to have a wealth of baking talent, and I have a list of trusted bakers with similar styles who can fulfill any orders I am unable to accommodate in my schedule.

I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for supporting my dream. Over the years, I have had the privilege of meeting some truly incredible individuals, some of whom I now consider dear friends. To those who have been on this journey with me for the past eight years, I want you to know how much your support, grace, and kind words have meant to me. Your encouragement has played a significant role in my personal growth.

Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to the small business owners with whom I have shared ideas, leaned on for support, and collaborated with. Your presence and willingness to lend an ear or a word of encouragement have been invaluable to me. Thank you for simply being there. You know who you are.

I will post more when official dates are announced for the Grand Opening for the new owner. 💛
